"Wannabe" was the first Spice Girls hit. Released on 8th July 1996 in the UK and 14th January 1997 in America, it went to #1 on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as 30 other countries. The single went platinum in the UK, selling 1,269,841 copies, and platinum in the US, with over 1,000,000 copies sold.
